Relaxing by the seaside in Izena, time for the whole family to get to know each other.
Nighttime on Izena Island is a completely different experience from daytime. With few streetlights and almost no artificial lights, the island offers a spectacular starry sky on a clear night. It is not uncommon to see the Milky Way and shooting stars, and simply spending the night in peace and quiet will help you feel a deep connection with nature. Stargazing is a highly recommended way to spend an evening in Izena.
Recommended starry sky spots
Izena residents recommend these two spots for the best view of the stars!
Chijin Mountain Parking Lot
The parking lot halfway up Chijin Mountain overlooking the island is an attractive spot with its wide open vistas and serenity. If you park your car and look up at the sky, the stars will fill your field of vision. It is a perfect place for couples or friends to relax and gaze at the stars.
Sinugushi Beach
Located northwest of Izena is a quiet beach with few tourists. With only the sound of the ocean echoing in the background and no streetlights around, this pitch-dark space is perfect for stargazing. However, it gets very dark underfoot, so bringing a flashlight or headlamp is essential. Spreading out a leisure sheet and lying down is also recommended!
A little something about stargazing
A moonless new moon night is especially recommended!
Without moonlight, the number of stars appears much higher.
Use a flashlight when walking on streets with few streetlights.
The stars are easy to see, but watch your step. A small light is a good idea.
Comfortable with leisure seats and folding chairs
The scale of the starry sky is totally different when viewed lying down!
