4 Camping Spots in Izena Island

Izena Island has four camping spots with different nature and facilities.

Izena Beach

Located on the south side of the island, this is a popular spot with white sand and clear waters. It is equipped with toilets and showers, and outside lights automatically turn on at night (lights go out around 21:00-22:00). Showers are available for a fee (200 yen for 5 minutes), but provide a comfortable environment.

Izena Island Camping Spot Tashi Beach

A simple, quiet beach used by the locals for ebb and flow fishing. It is equipped with toilets and water showers, and reservations are not required and use is free. Recommended for those who want to feel nature easily.

Mejihara Park

Izena Island Camping Spot Mejihara Park

An area on the west side of the island where greenery and sandy beaches are in harmony. Toilet and shower facilities are available (hot water is not available). It is ideal for those who want to spend a relaxing time in a calm atmosphere.

Camping area located on the north side of the island. There are no showers, but toilets are available, and several outdoor facilities for BBQ are available for groups and families.

How to get to Izena Island

It takes about 2.5 hours from Naha. Once on the island, go to one of the four campsites

First, head to "Unten Port," about an hour and a half drive from Naha Airport, and from there take a 55-minute ferry ride to "Nakada Port," the gateway to Izena Island. From there, take a 55-minute ferry ride to Nakada Port, the gateway to Izena Island.

Once on the island, each campsite can be accessed at the following times

Izena Beach: 5 minutes by car
Tasi beach: 10 minutes by car
Mejihara Park: 15 minutes by car
Uchihana Auto Camping Ground: 20 minutes by car

Cars can be rented at Nakada Port, and cars can also be ferried in.
Depending on the number of people and the amount of luggage, it is convenient to choose a means of transportation.

For car rentals on the island, Izena Rent-a-Car is conveniently located right in front of Nakada Port.

How to choose a rental car

(1) Contact

Please call, drop us a line, or use Instagram to let us know what you would like to rent and the date you would like to use it.

2) Reservation at least 2 days in advance

Based on your inquiry, we will send you a confirmation via LINE or Insta-DM. Please complete your reservation at least 2 days prior to the camp day, as rental items need to be prepared.

(iii) Receipt

On the day of the tour, pay & receive at the Izena Island Tourist Association counter in the Nakada Port Terminal in cash or cashless.
Various electronic money, barcode payment, and credit card payment can be used.

Return

After use, please remove dirt and sand and return to the Izena Island Tourist Association counter in the Nakada Port Terminal.

Phone and counter reception is available on weekdays from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On holidays and national holidays, please use the official line or DM.

Advance reservations are recommended for camping equipment rentals! It is easy to pick up and return your equipment.
The process from reservation to return is very simple. Upon arrival on the island, pick up your luggage at the Nakata Port Terminal. You will be transferred to the site and can start camping immediately.

For safe enjoyment on Izena Island

If the tent is set up in the sun, it should be in the shade as much as possible. If it is in the sun, the inside of the tent will become hot during the day.
Take adequate precautions against heat stroke. Hydration, shade, hats, and sunscreen are essential.
・Do not pitch your tent on the beach because of the ebb and flow of the tide.
Secure your tent with ropes and pegs to prevent strong winds.
Do not use open flames or open fires. It may cause fire or environmental damage.
Please do not leave garbage as it is, but be sure to separate it into separate categories (fragile/non-fragile, PET bottles, cans, and bottles), affix the garbage stickers sold at each store, and take it to the designated place (Nakada Port Terminal).
Swimming in the ocean is at your own risk. Wear a life jacket and have your emergency contact information ready in case of emergency.

Points to keep in mind when returning rentals

Please remove soil and sand thoroughly before returning the equipment.
Please return the items dry as much as possible, not wet.
Please return sleeping bags, wet tents, etc. without storing them in bags.
In the unlikely event that a part is lost or broken, please be sure to inform us at the time of return.
