The OMSB Water Rescuer Certification Course and Snorkel Guide Certification Course will be held on Izena Island in April 2025. This is a very valuable opportunity for those who aspire to work in the marine leisure industry and for those who want to work in the local marine industry.
Course Outline
OMSB water rescue personnel are certified by the Okinawa Prefectural Public Safety Commission as "qualified water rescue personnel as stipulated in the Okinawa Prefectural Ordinance on Prevention of Water-related Accidents and Ensuring the Safety of Swimmers, etc.". The ordinance regarding water rescue personnel stipulates that beach operators must have the necessary water rescue personnel (lifeguards) to save lives, and pleasure boat operators must have water rescue personnel to perform water rescues.
STEP1] Water Rescuer Certification Seminar
Dates: Monday, April 21 - Wednesday, April 23, 2025
Contents: Classroom lecture, sea area training, practical skills test + written test
Course fee: 37,000 yen (tax included)
STEP2] Snorkel guide certification workshop
Dates: Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25, 2025
Contents: Classroom lecture, practical training in the sea area
Course fee: 22,000 yen (tax included)

Course Qualifications and Course Content
Age: Healthy people between 18 and 65 years old (no respiratory or circulatory system diseases)
Practical reference content:
Flipper 400m (within 9 minutes)
25m parallel dive (no-fin no-snorkel)
5 minutes of standing swim
Surface dive (approx. 5m depth, 3-point attachment)
800m long distance swim (no fin or no snorkel)
